This is an absolutely beautiful used Left-Handed Stelling Marteka Challenge Top-Tension banjo in mint condition. It literally has less than 15 hours of playing time logged in on it and has no signs of wear, anywhere! It was built and purchased directly from the Stelling Banjo Works in Alton, Virginia on 2-23-2017, serial #7183. The neck and resonator are highly figured curly maple, ebony fingerboard with the prewar style geometric block inlay similar to the Gibson RB-12’s. It has 5th string railroad spikes installed at the 7th, 8th, 9th and 10th frets. It comes equipped with a Tony Pass 600TS lost timber block rim and has been fully set up at the Stelling shop except for the lighter gauge strings I installed for my fingers sake. Comes with a TKL emerald green plush-lined case. This banjo is a top end professional level instrument with outstanding volume, tone, and crystal clear clarity, especially on the higher registers of the neck. It also has a very sweet melodic sound as you move away from the bridge for backup elements. IMO, the craftsmanship on this banjo is absolutely impeccable and second to none, as are most Stellings. Retails for well over $6,000. Asking $5400/OBO.
