Appears to be in very good all original condition for a banjo this age and likely played regularly. Only obvious thing missing is the acorn nut that is usually found on the upper lag bolt.
There was a break at the volute at some point which was professionally repaired. Not only was the break glued, but four nicely finished dowels or pins were inserted for strength. All of this is shown in the pictures. Not a problem for 4-string players, I don't believe and certainly not for those wanting to do a 5-string conversion.
There are some tiny holes present inside the rim, not through the rim, that likely supported a light fixture often seen under the heads of tenor players.
The Baker tailpiece is sometimes seen during this production period. The Baker is present on this banjo.
The head is so pre-EPA that the EPA might not have existed when this head was made.
Original case is in good condition.
