Due to a new household limit on banjos I am selling this beautiful 5-string Crafters of Tennessee Flathead Banjo. Designed by Mark Taylor in Old Hickory, Tennessee these are professional, high-end banjos that have proven to stand the test of time and are among the best made.
This banjo has been setup and is ready to play with a bright, clean vibrant sound (see link, ask for more video if that helps). A lot of that power is due to the famed Tennessee 20 tone ring, an impressive pre war replica ring developed in part by the government's Y-12 nuclear facility at Oak Ridge, Tennessee. It is a superior "pre-war" tone ring that was also used in the Rich and Taylor banjos by Greg Rich and Mark Taylor. An impressive resonator with concentric rings and an ebony neck with the Crafters classic inlay pattern. The peghead of the Crafters banjos are perhaps the most beautiful of any, with their use of pearl and abalone. All original construction. Mahogany neck and resonator, ebony fingerboard . Geared tuners with 5th string peg.
Imperfections include mild resonator abrasions, and a small area of varnish decay (pictured) on the back of the neck. Fret ware is minimal and there is no functional issue as a result of the light fret wear on the first few frets. As you can see, the hardware looks great. The deluxe case is also in really good shape.
The banjo has been played, but there are no buzzes or problems with fretting or tone. This banjo is ready to shine.
