I was able to get this orphan style 11 rim and resonator and decided to put it back together for someone to enjoy for another 85-90 years!.......This is an uncut prewar 11 rim with the 1/4" brass hoop on top.
This is one of the pretty green colors on back which seems to be more rare than some of the other colors.
This is for anyone that is wanting an original 85+ year old style 11 rim and resonator complete pot (which most know is the heart and soul of that clear note separated sound we love from these old prewar Gibsons but with all new Prucha metal and about 1K less than one sells for with all prewar metal.
It will still have that sound…..and metal is nice and new looking and flange will be perfectly flat.
The rim does not have the Gibson sticker and this tells me that this pot was either a Kel Kroydon or SS Stewart, all made by Gibson!
From messing with these Gibson 11s over the years, I have found that the Kels or SS Stewarts are the same banjo, made in Gibson factory and before they started putting Gibson on peg head they made the Kels and SS Stewarts and would not put a sticker in those rims because they had the other names on peg heads to sell to mail order houses and it would be confusing to put one name on peg head and one name on rim.
This is my opinion on this!
The rims are all the same dark blue color and 3 ply maple prewar construction, with exception of the KK10 Kels, which are black instead of the dark blue.
Not shown in pics, but a new Prucha presto will be included with this package.
Anyway, if anyone has an interest just let me know.
Thanks for looking
