Albert Houdlett’s Professional 5 String banjo. Made in New York. Houdletts 5 strings are somewhat of a rarity. I’ve seen many tenor and banjo ukes. This banjo has an 11” pot. 26” scale. The ancient skin head Is probably original and still functions well. All original hooks/nuts/shoes. Vintage friction tuners with ivoroid buttons. 1/2” bridge. Nylon strings. I’ve been playing this one tuned down a few steps and it sounds excellent. Dark, plunky tone. The 4th string really growls. I believe the tailpiece is a Rickard aged brass no knot.
The peghead has been repaired at the top of the neck. The well done repair is very strong. I’ve been playing this banjo regularly for a few years and have had no issues. Any questions?please ask. Thanks.
