I am selling this unique, beautiful and versatile 5 string open back Moonshine DLX deluxe short scale banjo by Nechville and invite you to make a reasonable offer.
Please take the time to open and zoom in on each picture so you can fully appreciate the beauty of this instrument.

This is a custom Moonshine DLX deluxe model. It is an "A-scale" banjo with a scale length of 23-1/2", 1-1/4" width at the nut, 11" medium crown Fiberskyn head. The neck is highly figured, premium maple and is nicely finished – very pretty. The fingerboard is Ebony and is radiused, the tone ring is wood; Nechville calls it their Timber-Tronic tone ring. The armrest is called an “Exotic Wood Comfort Beveled Arm Rest” in Nechville’s information sheet for this banjo. The banjo has a two way stainless steel truss rod in the neck. The banjo comes with the original TKL hard shell case as shown in the pictures.

If you are not familiar with Nechville you will find this banjo to be a "Tweaker's Dream" in that you can make significant changes to how the banjo is set up very easily. For example, the head tension is done with two gear head wrenches inserted into a metal gear device on the back of the banjo. With this system, very accurate and uniform head adjustments, large or small, are very easily and quickly made. In just seconds you can tighten or loosen the head perfectly and be assured that the head is uniformily taut all the way around. The way the neck fits with the rim can be adjusted by loosening an Allen head screw on the bottom of the heel. You can raise or lower the neck or tilt it side to side quickly and easily and lock it in place by re-tightening the Allen head screw. The tailpiece is adjustable from side to side and up and down with an Allen wrench. All original tools needed for such adjustment are provided along with a Player’s guide that explains the various adjustments.

The sound of the banjo can also be adjusted to your liking in traditional ways like changing the type of head, strings, bridge, or adjusting the tailpiece or the truss rod, etc. BUT it can also be adjusted by changing the ball bearing material. What’s that? These balls are what connect the tone ring to the rim to produce the full banjo sound. When you adjust the head tension, the balls roll in their track and allow the tone ring to rotate in relation to the rim which tighten of loosen the head. You will get a better explanation from the Player's manual or from Nechville. The material of the balls can be steel for a bluegrass sound, or plastic and recently I have found that wood balls provide a pleasing sound for Clawhammer playing. Included is a full set of wood balls and a set of mixed metal and plastic balls. The plastic balls provide a tone between the metal and wood balls. Nechville calls this a crossover banjo good for various styles of play based on how the banjo is setup.

The Mother of Pearl neck inlays, in my thinking, represent the various types of grains that can be used by moonshiners to produce their alcohol. The fingerboard is radiused. There are no grooves or worn spots on the fingerboard. The fingerboard is bound with black-white-black-white plastic with white position dots on black. Railroad spikes for the fifth string are on the 7th and 9th fret positions.

Pictures don’t do justice in capturing the beauty and design of this banjo. If you need additional pictures of any part of this banjo, I’d be happy to send them to you.
