This banjo is from the Earl Scruggs collection. Sold by Gruhn. Made in 1984, it was presented to Earl and has been played by him. This banjo includes the original strings was played by Mr. Scruggs and the original head. It has been overhauled and set up by none other than the great Charlie Cushman. Original bridge is included. Strap is not included with sale. This is your chance to own a piece of history.

In addition to the pics seen here, I posted detailed videos of the banjo's interior and back on YouTube:

PLEASE NOTE: I am aware of the fact that the Gruhn authentication lists a different SN, but that was their error, and you can check with Charlie or Gruhn's on this one. It's the real deal. Signed letter from Joe Spann is included and pictured above. Also, see this note:

To Whom It May Concern:

This is to certify that the 1984 Gibson Earl Scruggs Model (serial number 02) was formerly the property of Earl Eugene Scruggs (1924-2012) and was one of a number of instruments which were sold as part of the Scruggs Estate Sale at Gruhn Guitars on Tuesday, January 23rd 2018. These instruments were received from Gary and Randy Scruggs at the Scruggs Sound Studio on Tuesday, November 7th 2017. I was personally present to inventory the instruments and was the principal contact for the Scruggs Estate. The Certificate of Authenticity which was issued by Gruhn Guitars (signed by George Gruhn and Gary Scruggs) contains an error, indicating that the banjo was serial number 05, when in fact, it is serial number 02. At the time of the sale, we were informed that this banjo was the 5th test example produced in 1984, and the error on the COA stems from that fact.
