Gibson RB-3 mahogany neck, leaves and bows pattern. Finish is excellent and the fret wear is incidental.
This neck was on an RB-3 manufactured in 1998.
I've shown several pictures of the volute area. Apparently there was a slight crack in the volute area. If this indeed was a crack, a superb craftsman
performed an almost undetectable repair. There is no evidence of fracturing of the overlay, which is common in this type situation and no sign of
damaged in the cavity under the truss rod cover.
The issue described above might have to be pointed out to many people. It is not immediately apparent.
The previous owner of the banjo, with this neck, never experienced any tuning or instability issues. Neither have I during my ownership.
I have priced this neck lower than might usually be asked for a genuine Gibson neck because of the volute issue.
