I usually sell instruments instrument shops, and I recently sent out a bunch, but I thought I’d try selling this beauty by myself, no doubt to delay its departure. It’s one of a kind, I believe, and I wish I could take those lovely pictures that Jason takes, but he may still have photos of this one stored somewhere.
I have two other Romero’s that I play regularly, and this one has not been played very much at all. It is about as close to mint as one could get. No issues, no repairs. I have been stalling listing it for sale on the web. I’d be just as happy holding on to it, but I really do have too many banjos, and age is creeping up.
The serial number is 07121. The sound is clear and deep as the 12” pot is around 3” deep. I believe the wood for the neck and pot are figured maple, the neck at the nut is or maybe a smidgeon beyond 1 1/4”, the metal parts and frets are fine, and the tuners work well. There’s a scoop and one of Jason’s cool tailpieces.
Like some old Dobsons, the 5th string pip is at the 6th fret. The banjo is as close to mint as possible
My pictures, unlike Jason’s, don’t do it justice, and perhaps I should use a real camera rather than a cell phone. Jason may have the originals. Price: $3850.
