This is a very good quality Aria Bowtie 5 string Banjo that was made in Japan in the 1970's. This has been inspected and set up at the Banjo Warehouse in Atlanta Georgia.

Description
Many of the Vintage Japanese Banjos were made with very high quality standards and are actually better than similar banjos that were made in the USA. In some cases these Japanese Banjos are better than NEW American made Banjos. This is a great example of a strong banjo that has been professionally put together so it plays and sounds wonderful.
This has a rosewood resonator that is probably Brazilian with a mahogany neck. The fretboard is also rosewood and has a bowtie inlay pattern. There is white binding on each side of the neck and resonator. This has all original chrome hardware including a full size 20 hole tone ring and a one piece flange. This is very significant in the sound this banjo produces. The armrest and tailpiece are both engraved and they are also both original.
This would be a great banjo for anybody but at the price this could be the perfect beginner banjo. These truly are better banjos than some BRAND NEW American Banjos that are at the same price.

Condition
This has been professionally cleaned at the Banjo Warehouse. We disassembled the banjo and we buffed the metal with a high powered buffer which has caused it to look new! The wood has been waxed and that also looks fantastic. The back of the resonator has some minor marks but they are truly minor. The neck and fretboard are in great shape and the frets look basically untouched. There was once a 5th string capo on the neck which was removed and there are two tiny holes on the side of the neck which effect nothing. That can sound serious to someone without much musical experience but those holes are the size of a pin head. This is definitely clean and the original case is clean inside and out as well.
Set Up
This has been professionally set up at the Banjo Warehouse as well. This has a new Remo frosted head which has been set to 90 on a drum dial. The bridge is a Grover Bridge and this has correct intonation. The strings are new Huber Truetone .10 gauge strings and the action is set nicely. This also is adjustable with two coordinator rods and a truss rod.
These are great quality instruments but when a professional cleans and sets these banjos up they become golden. I am kidding in no way when I say this is a better banjo than some brand new beginner banjos that are made in the USA at the same price. This would be an incredible Christmas present or a first step up banjo for the player that wants quality at a great price.
