Just finished this Vega/Eastman conversion. Here are the details:
- Original 10 15/16" Vega Little Wonder rim with the original matching dowel stick.
- Tone ring, tension hoop, and dowel hardware are original.
- Shoes, hooks, and nuts, are North American made replacements.
- Five-Star tuners with grained ivoroid buttons.
- Eastman reproduction Vega-style neck (maple with ebony fretboard and center strip).
- Mother of pearl inlays in classic dot-and-star inlays patterned after the Vega Regent model, which was the five-string version of the Little Wonder.
- Lightly used fiberskyn head.
- Reproduction no-knot tailpiece.
This is a great sounding banjo, with excellent clarity and sustain. The action is set at 5/32" at the 12th fret with a 5/8" bridge and D'Addario medium strings. The neck has a satin nitrocellulose lacquer finish which is only slightly lighter than the rim, but will which should darken to match with time.
