This is a wonderful 12” banjo that Bill Rickard made for me in 2011. He made the neck from some 40-year-old bird’s eye maple I had. This is his spun-over antiqued brass rim design with a cherry wood insert, Bill’s dobson tone ring, and a Fiberskyn head. The neck is a 5 piece laminate using birds eye, ebony, and cherry with his dobson heel design. The tuners are Gotoh and the tailpiece his no knot – both are aged brass as is the tension hoop. The neck is 1 3/8” at the nut, and 25 ½” scale, with a comfortable slight V shaped profile. Some visible fret wear mostly on the second fret that does not affect playing.
This is a gorgeous banjo that is as pleasing to look at as it is to play. Comes with a like new tweed TKL case.
The first 4 pictures were taken in Bill’s shop at the time he made it as they are better quality than I can produce. My pictures show how it looks now including the minor fret wear, mostly on the second fret, that does not impact playing.
