These tone rings were exclusively available in the Hatfield Aurora model banjo. After some discussion with Arthur they will now be offered separately. Arthur will sell these and the Northern Michigan Old Maple rims.
The ring only is $650, a rim only is $200, a ring fitted to one of the rims is $800. The rings and rims are limited in quantity as my last batch of rings was 2013, the rims were made in 2009 from wood harvested in the 50's. Rings shown are plated with sulfamate nickel which is dull without buffing and two different channel cuts. The rings are long skirt, ~0.400".
***** I have a couple of rings that are from a batch that was mistakenly machined as short skirt, 0.375" *****
Arthur will have both rings and rims in stock and for the combination price will fit a ring to a rim. Please contact Arthur for orders and other services such as cutting the rim for a flange of your choice, staining and finishing, or fitting using your parts. I will take any questions regarding ring and rim production, more details are in my blog section.
An Aurora was recently built with black binding. The original Aurora was designed to be somewhat unique. Two things I had in mind was Rudy Lyle's Wreath pattern flathead and Earl's Granada with the mahogany JW Gower neck. The Aurora can be ordered with a mahogany resonator if desired or other minor variations. Please discuss options and pricing with Arthur.
Dale Perry and Jessie Baker were the first two endorsers of the Hatfield Aurora banjo.
