I loved the banjo sound (and the playing) on Jake Blount's Reparations cd. I emailed Jake to ask who made his banjo - Andrew Norcross. I loved Light and Hitch and Andrew played one of his own banjos on that cd. Jake kindly put me in touch with Andrew. There are 2 differences between this banjo and Jake's - the pot size (12" vs 11-13/16th and the hardware (nickel vs brass). This banjo:
25 ½" scale
Pre-war style v neck profile (narrow)
Fretless to about the 7th fret with a brass plate
11-13/16 pot, based on Vega Little Wonder pots of 20's - 30's
Pot is thin-walled and deep, with clarity on high and mid range and plunky in the low range
Brass arm rest
I am selling it because I do not do it justice. A banjo can only do so much - the rest is up to the player. I'm sticking with a fretted banjo and a Boucher-style Minstrel banjo with Nylgut strings.
