This banjo was put together using old and new parts. The banjo is all set up and ready to play. You can hear this banjo being played by me in the clawhammer style by clicking on the link below. The tune is June Apple played in G tuning.
The neck is of unknown origin. A new fretboard, frets and position dots were added. The side winder tuners are original to the neck and a new geared 5th peg was added. The neck is straight and the string action is 3mm above the 12th fret while sitting on a 5/8" bridge. There is a 1/8" wide x 1/2" deep steel truss bar embedded in neck. There are no string buzzes and the strings note true up and down the 26 1/4" scale. Fretboard width is 1 7/8" at the end. The neck to pot fit is snug and secure.
The pot was constructed from a 11 5/8" wide wooden bowl with the bottom cut out. A walnut rim cap was added to the bottom edge. The tension hoop is the top part of a steel plant hanger. The head is stained calf skin and sits on a 3/16" round steel hoop that serves as a tone ring. Hooks, nuts, hex lugs, tailpiece, bridge and strings are all new.
There is no case but the banjo will be packed carefully and shipped via USPS Retail Ground.
