Made in the mid-late 1970s, this finely crafted (“Masterclone”) Banjo is a clone of the legendary Gibson Mastertone made for the Asian market out of Japan and was one of Ibanez’s best sellers.
It has an original Remo Weather King head with play marks (but still in great shape), a tube and plate flange, and a brass tone ring. It features a maple resonator with a beautiful brown color and simple concentric circle design. The multi-ply rim is original and in really nice condition, and no issues with the binding. Wood is straight grained maple with some light use marks (no deep scratches). all the metal is chrome plated to prevent tarnish.
The neck is a 3-piece maple neck with an adjustable truss rod, so it a very sturdy design. It is straight and plays cleanly all the way up the neck. The planetary tuners are smooth and work perfectly, though one of the tuner pegs has a non-original flange screw. The ebony fretboard and headstock are decorated with beautiful mother-of-pearl wreath pattern inlays and peg head design.
Original hard case is also in excellent condition and includes picks and extra strings.
