Here's a tremendous old Gibson from 1949. No doubt being so soon after the war this banjo has prewar wood in it. The banjo's from 1949 almost always make great conversions and this one is no exception. The tone ring installed is a Jerry Sloan 20-hole nickel plated flathead and has the tone you'd expect from a Sloan ring. The resonator is factory double bound and the tuners are upgraded to Waverly Vintage. The overall condition can be clearly seen in the pictures. This banjo has honest play wear from head to toe which to me, is a good indication that it's gonna be good. Typical finish checking is present and the tailpiece is a Presto without a flip-cover. This banjo retains it's original hardshell case which is also in great condition as well. 5th-string spikes are installed at 7-10 frets.
