1980 Deering Intermediate for sale. Some minor scuffs, but good condition overall. Very loud! I was quite surprised by how good it sounds. It's got a rolled steel rim, similar to the Boston. Back in the '70s Deering made two steel rim banjos - the Basic, and the Intermediate. The Basic had dots and a thinner rim, the Intermediate was a little fancier and had a thicker rim. They eliminated both models and started making the Boston, which features the thicker rim but only has dots and guitar tuners.
Of note for this instrument - I thought the thumbscrew... washers, if you can call it - that attach to the brackets and permit attachment of the resonator looked home-made and fishy, so I asked Deering. They seemed to say the "hardware" looked original, so I left it be. It seems to work. It looks like a fender washer could be substituted at minimal expense if you wanted. I'd do it for you if you're not confident taking off a few nuts and brackets to make the switch.
Price is negotiable. Thanks for looking, and keep an eye out for some more banjos I'll be listing in the next day or two.
