This is a banjo I had custom made in 2006, from Crafters of Tennessee (which was previously Rich and Taylor). It was their signature model (at the time top of the line), and I had it made from a beautiful quilted mahogany piece (there's no concentric circles in the resonator), with gold engraved finish and their top of the line inlays. It's gold finish, with ivory/ivoroid binding, and also has a 16" radius rosewood fretboard.
In terms of condition, it's basically in what I would call mint condition as far as check marks/lacquer/etc. It's got some of that classic banjo patina thing going on in the gold, which I never bother to polish on any of my banjos; it should come out if you want to do the whole polishing bit, I just find it lasts about 6 months.
Sound wise given the wood and make of it, it's like an amazing JD Crowe/RB-75 kind of tone, and it's a canon, so you'll be right over the top of any bluegrass group. I had used it for a while in the studio, but haven't played it in years so it's just time to send it to a home that will use it.
