This quality instrument has been used professionally in the past. The head stock reads "Gibson" and "Mastertone" at the other end of the neck. But, there are no other Gibson markings or serial number on the instrument. This banjo is in good condition and shows no appreciable fret wear; there is some belt scuff marks on the back of the resonator. The fretboard has gorgeous mother of pearl inlays. A string capo and Scruggs tuners have been added. Multi-ply rim. Solid tone ring. A leather shoulder strap and hard case or soft "gig bag" (buyer's preference) included.
The most important thing: this banjo plays well, good fingering and a warm sound. It was set up by Folk Music Center, Claremont CA. (Receipt available.) I hesitate to say "it plays like a Gibson" because that assessment is in the ear of the listener. But, it does sound really good! If you're close enough, come play it!
