Great "newer" Gibson RB4 with Kulesh tone ring, cleaned and set-up by Clancy Mullins August 2019. Little wear, beautiful walnut neck and resonator, lovely rosewood fret board, spikes at 7 & 9, appropriate Gibson OHSC w/shroud.
Some details: I bought the banjo on Ebay in 2014 from a man in TN who said he bought it at the Gibson showroom in Nashville in 2006. It is nickel hardware and had the "mystery" tone ring, The owner had replaced (why I don't know) the original tail piece with a one-off Fults-style tail piece. The instrument had lots of tarnish, but otherwise was in VG condition. Very nice crisp sound, the loveliest rosewood fret board I'd ever seen with the FE inlay, no scratches or obvious fret wear, no resonator blemishes.
This past summer I decided to have Clancy restore its showroom condition and in the process bought a Kulesh ring from Banjo Warehouse and had Clancy install it; he also restored the Presto tail piece and did some minor work on several frets. During the work he said the banjo had never been disassembled, the neck and rim were in EC, co-rods in neutral. His workmanship, as you can see, is beyond reproach.
Case candy includes a brass (?) Shubb capo, a Janet Davis mute, a bag full of National finger picks and Dunlop thumb picks, two replacement sets of strings from Daddario, Doug Dillard's tab book and Earl's "Black Book" in two volumes spiral bound. $3500. You pay the real cost of shipping to CONUS only.
There is more background info in this link: /banjohangout.org/topic/...1/#4565651. I am including the single ticket to the 4-day MerleFest in late April though I cannot assure the Gibson purchaser that it will be honored at the festival as a legitimate document of entry. The cash value of the ticket is $0.
My life goes on and each day bring a new health challenge, with uncovered test expenses, balance billing and co-pays: That's where I am now and why I'm regretfully selling it. I don't have the knowledge or capability to provide an MP3 file - Sorry. Any other questions I'm happy to answer. 508-237-3185.
I hope this info helps you decide. Thanks, Dave
