This is a good/very good condition Fender tenor banjo from the 1960's when these were built in California. I bought it used from Tyler Jackson at Heart's Home Acoustics. It was one of three used banjos that he demonstrated on a video and to my ears it had the loudest and clearest tone of the three. The other two were a B&D and a Vega. I changed out the head to one recommended by Bob Smakula as the one many tenor players prefer. I think it is referred to as a "cloudy" head. The sound is great. I've put Thomastik-Infeld strings and the notes ring loud and clear. I understand that many people might want to buy this and convert it to a 5-string and I understand why. When playing with other banjoists the few times I have this Fender gets attention. I think folks are surprised that a relatively"modern" factory-built banjo can sound as good as it does. It has a few scratches on the back of the resonator. The one caveat is that it is heavier than many other banjos. At first I was surprised but within a very short playing time I did not notice nor mind the weight. I play standing up with a strap. Ask any questions you might have.
