All original except for the fifth string tuner and the skin (the flesh hoop is original, though). This was Vega's most basic five string banjo. The serial number dates it to the early 1920s. It has a 10 5/8" maple rim with a round rod tone ring and includes all 24 shoes, hooks, and nuts, and the original No Knot tailpiece. The neck and headstock are the same as on the Style F tenor, but with the longer scale and fifth string. The dye has faded on the fingerboard, headstock, and heel cap, as is common. The Waverly friction tuners hold tune well and are surprisingly smooth.
Beyond its completeness, the overall condition is very good. There are no structural issues to my knowledge. There are a few nicks and dents here and there, which is to be expected after nearly a century. This includes a few shallow dents on the back of the neck, though I find overall playability is excellent for its age and it has a very comfortable profile. The finish on the neck is very smooth under the fingers and mostly intact except where it has worn away where the thumb rests in the first position.
A genuine prewar Vega five string in original and playable condition can't be had for less.
I'm happy to answer any questions you may have about the banjo.
