This banjo was produced in honor of our country's 200th anniversary in 1976. Guess whats coming up? The 250th anniversary in 2026 so there will be a spike in patriotism and interest in patriotic things. Its possible that this banjo could become more valuable at that time.
This banjo, as far as I know, was one of two designs made by the Harmony Company. From my admittedly limited view of the banjo world this particular model is the rarest of the two. There is another version with an American Eagle on the resonator.
The banjo has an 11" head, geared tuners except for the 5th string which is friction. The resonator is removable; if you look closely on the very center of the resonator you will see a single large screw used to hold the resonator in place. So I suppose you could take the resonator off, make a few adjustments and play the banjo as an open back. I've rated the banjo condition as very good but was tempted to say excellent. The rating also says "Used" but only because there is not an "Unused" classification. It is not "New" but has not been played much at all.
There are no problems, the banjo tunes and plays properly. Cosmetically there is a ding or scratch here or there - but see if you can find them in the pictures. By the way, I put a Moon bridge on this banjo as well as every banjo I play - I just like them.
I don't have a case for the banjo but I could obtain one from Amazon. A respectable quality hard shell case can be added for $75. This would be a good option to protect the instrument during shipping. In fact, FedEx policy, as I understand it, is that they will not cover damage to a banjo, guitar, etc. unless it is in a hard shell case (or second packing box) inside a normal shipping box.
