UPDATE: I took banjo apart yesterday and re-fit tone ring, changed head and bridge and new strings and setup and man what a huge difference in sound! Listen to link of sound bytes......
This is the second banjo I am selling for the family of my good friend who recently passed…….
It is a 1925 TB3 conversion that was done by the late “CE Ward” here in North Carolina several years ago.
Banjo looks original with exception of:
Nice feeling and playing CE Ward style 3 diamonds and squares neck with beautiful Brazilian fingerboard….Original Grover 2 tab tuners were used from tenor neck
Has had ball bearings and springs removed and what we believe is a “Kulesh ring added”
Has a thicker tension hoop added with round hooks and nuts
(Original tension hoop would have been thinner with flat hooks and nuts)
Resonator has had the top binding added and probably oversprayed or refinished when neck was added……looks well matched and nice job
This banjo will come in an old Gibson HSC. (See pics)
Has the original Grover patent presto on it that has been punched for 5 string use.
Tenor neck is not with banjo.
This is a nice prewar sounding player!
Thanks for looking
