I’m selling this a few banjos on behalf of my buddy, Patrick Taylor Grover, who was the original and long-standing banjo player for Foghorn Stringband, is an excellent banjo player, and is an all round stellar human being.
Here is His description of this Bell banjo:
“This is Boucher style minstrel banjo that was built by Terry Bell in 2015. It is in immaculate condition and has been played little. The tuning pegs are beautifully fit and very smooth, and the deep pot delivers a huge bass-heavy tone. The neck is fairly plain maple which has been stained light brown, and the rim is of oak. The rim is about 3 and 1/2” deep. It has a 26” scale, which is slightly shorter than the typical Boucher scale of 27”. I had this one built with the shorter scale so I could tune it up to G or Drop C. It currently has minstrel style strings on it and has been tuned to dADF#A, but it will hold high tunings with the appropriate strings. Additionally, there is a custom case built by Mr. Bell. It’s heavy and 19th Century period correct, according to Mr. Bell. It has my name/title hand lettered on the face, but one could easily paint over it with black paint. Terry Bell sells this banjo for $700, and the case was $200. I’m asking $525 + $75 shipping for the case and banjo together.”
