The Slingerland Mfg. Company of Chicago is primarily known as a manufacturer of drums. During the first half of the 20th Century they manufactured and distributed various models of stringed instruments. The most popular series of guitars and mandolins was called the “Songster”.
The rarely seen Songster mandolins have spruce arch tops with f-holes, figured maple back & sides, attractive sunburst lacquer finish with distinctive headstock decorations made of drum sparkle material. This classic example is in excellent condition with a straight, playable neck and a funky tone ideal for blues and old-time folk tunes.
