In his book "Spann's Guide to Gibson 1902-1941", Gibson historian Joe Spann estimates the total production of one-piece-flange 1930s plectrum Granadas at thirty-seven units. Somehow this neck from one of those legendary flathead Granadas ended up on a 1960s style 100 pot which I acquired several years ago. This is a beautiful example of a 1930s Granada plectrum neck with gorgeous curly maple figure and featuring a Brazilian rosewood fingerbard with the "full" hearts and flowers inlay pattern. As is typical with prewar Granada necks, there is a curly maple veneer on the back of the peghead to cover the seams from the "ears". I believe the back of this neck has an older refinish; the front of the peghead remains original. There has been some alteration to the neck heel and no lot number is visible, but I believe it's very likely that this neck was originally on a PB-Granada from lot #9526, dating to 1930. I believe the nut has been replaced, and the frets show evidence of having been dressed. For more photos please visit Shipping is $30 UPS insured to the lower 48.
