This 1944 D-18 is a "Players Guitar" and that is reflected in the price. Normally this guitar would be $12,000 - $15,000 but due to "issues" it is priced accordingly.
The headstock has been repaired and it has period correct relic tuners from Stew-Mac with the "war time" buttons. This guitar is very light weight having the "war time" ebony truss rod. The neck and action are great having a fresh neck set. At some point a long time ago the guitar has been completely refinished but has "checking" throughout. The back has a decorative strip that would not be original but I have no idea who put it there. There is repair on the top using darker wood that is plainly seen, also a repair on the treble side of the lower bout as pictured as well. It will ship in a vintage Martin case that is extremely clean. This guitar is totally ready to go. If you have any questions, don't hesitate to ask. I'd like to sell straight out but would also trade for a pro-grade banjo, prewar, + - "boot"...
The sound of this guitar speaks for itself. Not all 44's had scalloped bracing from the factory but this one does! This one has the bass and volume for sure.
