PRICE REDUCED! This rather unique instrument is based on designs developed around 1912 by Albert Shutt of Topeka, Kansas. At some point this particular design was appropriated by the Harmony Co. of Chicago for its "Viol Mandolin Model 55". It can be assumed that this A. Rogers was built for a particular distributer during the 1930s or 1940s. We have only seen two them over many decades.
?Here’s what we do know — the triple bound top is carved from spruce and the back & sides are carved from maple. The maple neck has a nice comfortable feel, and the action is easy on the fingers.
The fingerboard is elevated and with the f-holes positioned nearer the fret board, the tonality is surprisingly strong. The instrument sports a beautiful sunburst finish and is in excellent playing condition with only a small amount of wear that you would expect from an instrument of this vintage.
