This banjo is as close as you can get to a prewar O.P.F. Granada without spending at least 3 X's the money. I owned this banjo for quite a while and played it live and recorded with it. I had let it go to a friend and now he's decided to let it go. I am handling the sale for him.
From "head to toe" here's the description:
The neck is a Huber curly maple with speed neck finish with very little fret wear at all. The tuners are Waverly V2's. The Cam tuners are Burlile stainless steel and gold plated by Steve Huber. The resonator is a prewar Gibson Style 11 that has been re-skinned by Huber with curly maple. The wall lugs were re-configured from the 3 (Style 11) to the 4 for the Granada. The hardware (modern) is copper flashed only for the vintage look and feel of an old Granada. The best part of this banjo to me is the rim. F.O.N. 9470 was the first batch of O.P.F. Granada's to come to the market in 1929-1930. This is also a "Fat" rim. The rim was "orphaned" out years ago and was obtained for this project a few years ago. The rim was originally fit with a 40-hole arch top but was later cut to fit a flat head ring. The label looks old and cool but it's a reproduction. The rim is listed as “questionable” on banjophiles due to the modifications. The rim has be verified/authenticated by Steve Huber. The tone ring is a Blaylock 20-Hole unplated.
