Here’s a rare treasure from one of the most respected luthiers in American stringed instrument history. Hand carved from the finest woods available, this mandolin is a joy to hear as well as a sheer delight to play. Its carved spruce top is triple bound with matching binding on the carved maple back and quintuple binding on the pick guard. The ebony fretboard and peg head are adorned with the traditional D’Angelico banner and Saracen sword motif inlay. From the tip of the peg head to the engraved tailpiece cover, the artistry of John D’Angelico is readily apparent.
This unique mandolin is in excellent condition, with the normal amount of playing wear one would expect from an 80-year old instrument, and one lacquer separation approximately 1.5” inches long in the lower back center seam. The fretboard and frets are in pristine condition.
If you’re familiar with D’angelico instruments, there is no need to describe the wonderful, rich tones you will hear. If you’re not familiar with the sound of a D’Angelico, get ready for a whole new experience in the world of a master builder. stk#VGM8045
