This is a great parts banjo with all high quality parts. I'd venture to say by looking at the yellowing of the binding and other things that this banjo was made in the 80's...maybe 70's. The mahogany neck is very well made with a great profile and hand cut inlay. There is a piece of binding missing on the treble side around the 16th fret. Schaller D-tuners are installed and the fret wear is moderate. The flange appears to me to be a re-plated vintage Doehler...possibly a prewar?...just not sure. The rim looks to be a Jimmy Cox rim that has a F.O.N. from a batch of Gibson Style 4's that were around 1930 stamped in it. The resonator is top quality as well with a maple lining. The reso shows wear and slight buckle rash. The tone ring is a Steve Ryan 20-hole flathead. This banjo has a 5/8 bridge and is ready yo go with a new Remo head. I wouldn't hesitate to put this banjo to work in any professional setting immediately. 5th string spikes are installed and it ships in a very clean vintage hard case with blue interior. If you have any questions or desire additional pictures, don't hesitate to ask. I hope to get a video up soon. This banjo has the classic mahogany Gibson sound.
