Gibson Earl Scruggs Special Presentation Five String Banjo. For decades, Gibson banjos were the benchmark for the instrument, and Earl Scruggs probably the best player.
The Gibson Earl Scruggs Special banjo model was introduced in 1984, and originally 1,984 were built and hand-signed by Earl Scruggs. As production continued, the signatures changed to printed versions and on the Gibson Earl Scruggs Special, to an inlaid signature on the resonator.
The Gibson Earl Scruggs Special model features flame maple pot, resonator and neck, abalone- bound ebony fingerboard and headplate, gold plated and engraved metal parts, and lots of mother of pearl inlay.
They sold for over $12,000 when released and are rarely seen for sale on the secondary market. All Original Near Mint Carlton Case( a $900 value)
