I am selling my VRB-3 Huber Banjo to finance another banjo. I would keep this in my "collection" if I were not "retired" on a fixed income as it possesses an exquisite sound. It is a professional quality banjo in mint condition. I am the third owner. It has just been completely re-fretted (because I play a lot) by a highly qualified and talented luthier ($420) and the mahogany resonator has been recently refinished by the Huber Banjo Factory and is in showroom condition. Included in the price and with the banjo is an Elliot Elite banjo capo valued at $160.
It also comes with a Huber banjo strap and a Mike’s banjo mute.
I purchased the banjo originally on this site and the case that came with it is from a Gibson banjo. The case is in good condition.
The VRB-3 sells new for $5,295.00
I am selling a VRB-3 in almost new condition for $3,950. The only wear on this banjo is the normal wear on the banjo head from playing and some of the nickel plating on the screws holding the resonator and slight arm rest tarnish from skin contact. The neck is in perfect condition and there are NO “dings” or markings. This banjo is in mint condition ready to produce true bluegrass music.
Steve Huber, through great effort and research has captured the pre-war Gibson sound that costs up to tens of thousands of dollars. The following is from his website:
“The VRB-3 is our recreation of the pre-war style-3 banjo, surely the most common of all the 1930’s flatheads. It features a mahogany neck and resonator, with our 1930’s style Huber HR-30 Tone Ring and Huber Engineered Rim.
The mahogany neck imparts a sweetness to this model with a warm blending of notes that create a classic bluegrass sound. The rosewood fingerboard and double cut headstock overlay are inlaid with a vintage style-3 pattern. It is finished with a natural mahogany stain, with antiqued binding and antique metal finish on the nickel parts. Grained ivoroid tuner buttons complete the vintage look on this model. The Flying Eagle and Wreath inlay pattern are also available on the VRB-3.”
This banjo has the Flying Eagle inlay as shown in the photograph.
I am selling as I purchased a Huber Kalamazoo
