Deep Creek Springs Tackhead from Jeff Delfield. In mint condition, it's a real work of art. The neck is ambrosia maple with a rosewood fingerboard, ten frets, a 'possum inlay and some beautiful contour carving on the back as shown in the photos. The headstock has overlays front and back: On the front are wormy chestnut and wormy maple pieced together, on the back just wormy chestnut. The pot is also wormy chestnut capped with wormy maple, 12" wide with a calfskin head. The overall length is 37-1/2", the width at the nut is 1-1/2" and the scale length around 25-5/8" (I'm guessing a bit since there's no twelfth fret.) The tuners are Pegheds, geared internally but made to look like friction pegs.

Jeff built this banjo with an internal tensioning system similar to that of a well-made bodhran so that you can adjust the head if need be. (See the last photo.) Sorry, no case but it will be carefully packed to ship.
