Here's a beautiful 1929 style 4 tenor from one of the last batches of this model to be produced before the change to the one-piece flange later that year. It features the chrome plating and Grover two-band tuners more commonly associated with the later one-piece-flange style 4 Mastertones and, like other examples from lot #9271, has Bella Voce fingerboard inlays rather than the typical hearts and flowers. This banjo has been featured for some time on my website at It remains in excellent original condition with the exception of the armrest and tailpiece, both of which are 1970s Gibson replacements. There is a hole in the rim from an armrest mute (no longer with the banjo) and there is finish wear on the tenor neck and resonator as shown in the photographs. The original owner of this banjo was Irvin O. Kenen of New Jersey, whose initials are engraved in very small letters on the underside of the flange. The original case is included. More photos available upon request.
