Up for sale is a late 1800’s Washburn bowl back (bowlback) mandolin. This is The New Washburn Latest Model Cremonatone.
The bowl is constructed from what looks like 13 rosewood (possible Brazilian) ribs.
Serial number: 135732
This mandolin is in great condition considering it is well over 100 years old. It has been strung with a brand new set of mandolin strings.
The inlaid tortoise shell guard is in great shape, and there are slight signs of pick wear below the sound hole. As can be expected from an instrument that as been played there is “normal wear and tear”. However, this mandolin is in great shape and was well taken care of.
I bought this mandolin in an antique shop as a cool decorative item for my home. The inlays, pick guard, tailpiece are all beautiful. This mandolin is well built and can be played (I am not a mandolin player at all).
I see these go for $400+ on Reverb and eBay. I would be willing to let this one go for $125 + $50 shipping..
This mandolin does not have a case, but it will be will packed.
