For Sale is a 1938-1941 Gibson TB-1 Banjo. This banjo is extremely original, down to the hide head. This banjo FON number M4397-# falls in a known lot of maple, 2 piece flange, "tone hoop" banjos built in the late 30's after Gibson had transitioned to the one piece flange. It is not known if this was a special order of banjos or a "floorsweep" by Gibson. Plating is great on all hardware. Unpunched Presto tailpiece. Armrest looks like a period one for a one piece flange. "The Gibson" label on the rim. Both rim and resonator are FON marked. Resonator shows wear (scratches). Tenor neck is fine with a small amount of wear on the original frets. Tuners are Grover two tabs. Sale includes original tenor case. Thank you.
