This beautiful hand crafted black walnut and curly maple banjo is all set up and ready to play. The banjo is unique and one of a kind. This is banjo number 39 and made by me in my shop. You can listen to this banjo being played by me by going to my BHO music page, scroll down the list of tunes & click on "Civil War Medley" played in the clawhammer style. The banjo has plenty of volume, sustain and plays easy in multiple playing styles.
The 11" block constructed rim was made from 8 walnut and 8 curly maple pieces. The Fiberskyn head sits on top of a 1/4" steel round rod tone ring. All metal parts are new.
The 3 piece neck ( walnut/maple/walnut) has a rosewood fret board and peg head overlay. "ears" on the peg head are curly maple. Inlays are mother of pearl. The peg head has two metal fleur de lis motifs opposite a mother of pearl dot. The fret board is bound with ivoroid binding. Heel cap is curly maple. The new set of planetary tuners have ivoroid buttons. The banjo notes true up and down the neck with no fret buzzes. The scale 26 1/8". The strings sit on a 11/16" tall bridge. The string action is 3 mm above the 12th fret. Width of the fret board is 1 1/4" at the nut and 1 7/8" at the end.
The banjo will be shipped insured in a nice hard shell case via USPS retail ground.
