1926 or 27 (I believe) TB2 Gibson 18 fret tenor banjo.
10 1/2", 2 ply maple rim with a "massive" .500" diameter brass tube "tone ring".
Rim is bound inside and out on lower edges. Original (I assume) hide head.
Resonator is maple, finish is in very good condition, minimal "checking", "crazing", almost absolutely no "buckle rash".
Shoe brackets with a hex flange, 22 "flat" hooks with Mastertone - style nuts.
Tension hoop is marked "Waverly D-5" on inner diameter.
L brackets / 3 thumbscrew resonator mounting set-up.
Nickel-plated hardware is in excellent condition.
Color is the '20-30's Gibson dark brown/black typical on TB 1, 2's, & Orioles, etc...
No "Gibson" on headstock, no numbers on headstock or rim. No "Gibson" sticker on rim.
Neck is identical to a 1930 Gibson Oriole neck, that I have shown in a photo.
Straight grain maple neck shows major playing wear, first 5 frets worn and "grooved" purty good, fret wear even down around 9 -12 frets. Back of the neck has heavy finish wear around first 5 frets.
Would make a cool little 5 string "old-timey" conversion, or even a Bluegrass banjo, if done / set-up properly. Or play it as a tenor. Loud, dry tone.
Brand new 10 1/2" Remo, top-frosted head is included. Will need some work on "flesh hoop" of the Remo to get it to fit properly, with tension hoop and hooks.
Comes with a well, well worn ancient chipboard case, but banjo in case will be well packed for shipping.
All in all, a sweet little '20's Gibson banjo, with some unorthodox features (binding on rim, hex flange instead of diamonds, no numbers, labels)
