Exceptional example of the work of luthier Jamie Dougan. All solid flamed mahogany (top, sides, and back) with walnut binding, abalone fret markers, and side dots. The Fletcher Tenortone guitar is built with a short-scale neck (21"), floating bridge, X braced top, and banjo-style peg head. Four strings, tuned an octave below the fiddle or mandolin (GDAE), can easily accomodate other common open tunings (e.g. GDAD, GDGD, AEAE, etc).
Patterned after a similar SS Stewart tenor guitar from the 1920s, this versatile and unique instrument finds a home in a wide variety of acoustic genres, including Old-time, Irish/Celtic, Middle Eastern and other acoustic World music. Outstanding tone for such a small bodied instrument, sweet and strong. fletcherinstruments.com has the whole story. Considering the upgraded woods and binding this would currently sell at over $3,000, with a very long waiting period.
$1950. Includes hard shell case, and extra string set.
