Here's a great all original 1967 RB-100 with a Sullivan Factory Floor Rim installed. The original thin black rim is included with the purchase of this banjo. Obviously the thin black rims that entered the Gibson line during the late 60's were inferior to the 3-ply maple rims of the past. As I considered what rim would work best for a 1/4' brass hoop I decided on the Sullivan Factory Floor rim sullivanbanjo.com/about/old-growth-wood/
I had Robin Smith turn the rim, stain it to match and fit it to the flange and then fit the neck to the pot creating a fine "Hooper" for someone who enjoys the "tone hoop" sound and especially the lighter weight. This banjo only weighs 8 pounds and 6 ounces.
The neck is a typical profile of the era with a beautiful Brazilian fret board and 5th string spikes installed at the 7th and 9th frets. The banjo still has the original Grover friction peg as I considered the new owner would want it as original as possible. A geared 5th tuner can be added at no charge. It is currently set up with a great Tim Purcell 5/8 bridge and ships in a new black Guardian case.
