Here's a super cool vintage open back original 5 string for your consideration.
This rare beauty has a 13 1/2 inch pot, 28 1/2 inch scale length 5 string neck. You see these in tenor form fairly often, but not in original 5! It has a new replacement No Knot tailpiece, and modern geared tuners with REALLY nice looking pearly buttons. Most of the hooks and nuts appear to be original, a few are replacements. It has a thicker goat skin head on it and I think it sounds really great! Trouble is I'm a 5 string picker so not the best judge on old-timey plunkiness.
The pictures show the numbers and all aspects of the instrument. A few of the inlays are worn off, and the frets appear to be newer modern size replacements. I think that action and playability are fine however some old time folks might want it a tad higher perhaps. A Hangout member told me that he suspects the finger board extension may have been cut off at some point... this is how I acquired it.
I don't have a case for it but I could either locate one (at your expense), or simply pack it professionally for a safe journey to your place.
Feel free to shoot me a fair offer, and even a trade. I'm mostly interest in bluegrass banjo stuff, and Martin Guitars.
This is in very good condition, considering it is well over 100 years old.
