I built this banjo to try out a few new things that have been on my mind. It can be set up as a 5+1 banjo tuned gGDGBD with the drone string in a tunnel from the 5th fret to the nut, or as a conventional 6 string banjitar or guitar banjo. The hooks and nuts, truss rod, fret wire and tuners came from Stew-Mac, the rest of the hardware was made by me from 6061 aluminum. The pot is 12" in diameter with a round flange instead of shoes. The scale length is 25.5" and the nut width is 1-3/4". The wood is cherry with a maple stripe. The fretboard is bitternut hickory and has a 12" radius for easier playing. There are more pictures on a forum thread about this banjo at the Discussion link. To convert from 5+1 to guitar banjo all that is required is to change one string and retune 2 others.
