Folk Art Banjo. Came from Strasburg, VA.
The homemade pot was in pieces, but I was able to glue it back together. Alternating maple and mahogany or walnut blocks.
The neck looks like a Buckbee neck. The original maker added his initials and diamond and star inlays.
There are holes drilled for tension hooks, but I felt it would be better to tack a head on. The green metal band might be a tension hoop (it was holding the pot together) so I left it on as a faux tension hoop for decoration. I added an enbolt and a No-Knot tailpiece.
The pot measures about 10 3/4" across. The head is goatskin.
Scale length is 24 1/2" and I have it set up with a 1/2" walnut bridge and Super Nylgut strings.
