An older (early 80's, I'll pin it down exactly if someone wishes, I'm thinking 1981) Stelling Whitestar Archtop. Ser. # 1578. This is one of the few made as a factory archtop. As some of you may know - the Stelling banjos can be converted to a flathead by simply changing out the tone ring. No other alterations to the banjo are necessary. These older Stelling banjos are becoming quite desirable. They have the block style rim, the heavier flange, bottom bound/capped rim, and really are great banjos. This particular banjo is in great shape, has no issues, very little fret wear. Either wasn't played too much, or has been re-fretted recently. These old Whitestar banjos are just great looking, really handsome instruments for sure, Blonde maple, black binding and nickel appointments. Five Star Tuners. A few years later the Whitestar was changed to a brownish' looking color.... just saying! Spikes at A, B, and C. The plating on this instrument is a lot nicer than you might expect; as it occurs to me that the Stelling banjos do exhibit quite a bit of (more than is normal?) tarnish when they get to be this old. Stelling Bridge, Top frosted head. It includes the original case, which is also in fine shape. The price is negotiable to a point.
