I am listing this banjo for a customer of mine.
This has been his main player for many years but he bought an original prewar style 2 pyramid banjo from me and wants to let this one go.
It has some wear on it as you can tell from the pics.
Serial number on back of peghead is 829429 which dates it to a late 1960s bowtie.
Neck, resonator, flange, tension hoop and hooks and nuts all look original Gibson but someone has upgraded it with a full thickness 3 ply rim and added the serial numbers in it from back of peghead.
This banjo would have came with a multiply thin rim with tone ring hanging over the inside so the rim in it now is a better addition.
This is a flathead and I assume the ring is original to banjo as well and it sounds pretty good as is!
Has an aftermarket presto on it and 2 Keith D tuners (that work very well) and 2 Gotohs on bottom which I put on this banjo new a while ago.
Neck is straight and plays well with good low action @ about .090 @ 12th fret with no buzzes.
Has an American Banjo Co head that I put on banjo as well when I installed the 2 Gotohs.
Banjo could stand a refret of about 12 frets and fingerboard has some divots in it as you can see in pics but I think most of them will dress out when fret work is done.
Comes with padded gig bag pictured below.
Price is in line with condition of this banjo @ 1500.00 or best offer!
Let me know if you have any questions or would like more pics.
