Offering my Fairbanks Special #2 for sale. Great old banjo in fine shape. I believe it is around a 1908 model. It has a 10 3/4 head and 26'' scale length. The original neck is in great shape very straight and the frets are very good also. I do have the neck shimmed back just because it was set in almost the same plane as the head but it is very strait and plays great. I currently have it setup with a 1/2 inch bridge and light gauge steel strings. This is a really cool old spunover rim banjo and would keep it myself but I really need the money to go toward another banjo purchase. This would also be a great setup for classic style with a period bridge and nylgut strings. There is some age cracks in the peghead overlay which seems to be pretty common on these old Fairbanks banjos. For two sound samples visit my music page on my homepage and look for my recordings of Little Rabbit, Marching Jaybird and Baptist shout. Price reduced to $500 must sell.
