Replica of the walrus tusk ivory rosette on the S.S. Stewart "Common Sense" tailpiece for upper-grade Stewart banjos. These are turned from the handle of an old ivoroid hairbrush. They ARE NOT EXACT duplicates of the originals, but from 3 feet away it's hard to tell the difference.
In the upper-left picture the rosette on the upper-right tailpiece is an original.
They attach using a slitted brass tube that passes through the tailpiece. The tabs are bent to hold the rosette in place. Recommended also to use a little superglue as backup.
